Singing, dancing and storytelling were part of tradition till 1960’s then slowly industrialisation and media mass took over and people were meeting and working together, sharing stories, rituals and singing less and less.
From 1988 Ljoba Jenče is recording remnants of oral tradition and publishes songs, tunes and stories. Nowadays some of the songs are already included in school books and in good practises of folklore groups in the region and wider in Slovenia.
Storytelling is reviving art of speech for children and adults. Our NGO was main carier of International Storytelling Symposium Parzival and Ljoba Jenče has edited a workbook on storytelling skills in 2007 in collaboration with Maribor Library.
