Drevak traditional lake boat Toggle

On the surface of the world’s largest karstic Cerknica lake, traditional boat has survived from centuries till nowadays. The last remnant in function without cut of tradition from Valvasor (1689) till nowadays. In ancient times 2000 B.C. man has duged it out of the fir or oak tree so he could trespass the lake for transport or to find food.The Lake people used the drevak also for social life to have fun with folk singing and dancing at the Otok village. They went for baptising and marriages by boat. Harvesting sweet reeds. The drevak is a masterwork of centuries and it deserves to be registered on the wolrd’s list of UNESCO’s safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage.
